Rochelle’s 5-Flavor Buttermilk
Rochelle, that’s my grandmother and my inspiration for baking. When I decided to bake this cake, I
knew it had to be named for her. Affectionately known as Mu (short for Mother Dear), my grandmother loved buttermilk, buttermilk, and cornbread to be exact. Now, I still don’t know what’s so special about buttermilk and cornbread, but I do know what’s special about buttermilk in a pound cake! This buttermilk pound cake is exceptionally moist and flavorful and to take it over the top, I decided to make it a 5-flavor cake. What’s a 5-flavor cake? Simple, instead of using one extract, I used five. This cake boasts flavors of vanilla, coconut, rum, almond, and butter. Full of love and personality just like my grandmother. Each slice is like a warm embrace from her, and it brings me moments of peace, do you know what goes perfectly with peace... poundcake.
